*The "ft" the industry quotes is the platform height; working height adds roughly 2 m of reach. Figures are typical for each class — the exact model and its specs are confirmed on your quote. The ground rule: standard electric scissors are flat-ground machines — past about 3° of slope they're the wrong tool. Any hill, crossfall or soft ground means a diesel rough-terrain scissor, with bigger tyres and stabiliser legs that level the deck before it lifts. Electrics weigh roughly 1.2–2.7 tonnes and big diesels several tonnes more — check floor and freight-lift ratings for upper-level work. Need to reach up and over instead? That's a knuckle boom.
Rates depend on the machine size, how long you keep it and the delivery distance — a week costs far less per day than a single day, and monthly rates are sharper again. As brokers we price your dates across several access fleets and send one consolidated quote, usually within the hour in business hours. Delivery both ways is quoted per job from the nearest supplying yard.
No high-risk work licence is required for scissor lifts in Australia — the WP licence only applies to boom-type lifts with 11 metres or more reach. Operators must still be trained and competent, and most Sydney builders ask for an EWPA Yellow Card, which is a short course. Check what your site requires before the machine lands.
Not a standard electric one. Slab scissors are flat-ground machines — past about 3° of slope they're the wrong (and unsafe) tool. If the site has a hill, a crossfall, kerbs or soft ground, you want a diesel rough-terrain scissor: bigger tyres, and stabiliser legs on many models that level the deck before you go up. Not sure what you're standing on? Send a photo of the site with the enquiry and we'll match the machine.
Generally no — slab electrics are built for indoor, zero-wind work on level concrete. Once wind, weather or soft ground enters the picture, it's a diesel rough-terrain scissor or an outdoor-rated machine. The 26ft and 32ft sizes come in both electric and diesel, so the height usually isn't the issue — the ground and the weather are.
A full charge covers a typical working day, and the machine charges overnight from a standard power point — plug it in at knock-off and it's ready at start. No site power yet? Tell us when you book and we'll quote temporary power alongside the lift.
The 13ft and 19ft electrics are 0.76–0.81 m wide, so they drive through a standard doorway, and the guardrails fold for low clearances. For freight lifts, check the lift's rated capacity — a 19ft electric weighs roughly 1.5 tonnes. Tell us the door widths and lift rating and we match the machine before it's booked.
In a scissor the guardrails are the primary fall protection, and a harness generally isn't mandated the way it is in boom lifts — but many Sydney sites require one anyway, so the site rule wins. If you need harnesses and lanyards supplied with the machine, ask and we'll arrange them with the hire.
Every machine is brokered from a vetted supplier fleet, maintained to Australian Standards and inspected before each hire, with the logbook on the machine. If your site needs the compliance paperwork up front, say so and we'll have the supplying yard send it with the booking confirmation.
The lift arrives by truck from the supplying yard closest to your site and drives off under its own power, so you need reasonably flat access at the drop point. Delivery and pickup are quoted per job. Standard gear is usually on site next day once the quote is approved — sooner when a nearby yard has it free. Hiring in the Hills? There's a dedicated scissor lift hire Castle Hill page too.
Yes — one call or email and we extend it with the supplying yard; you're not juggling the fleet directly. Off-hire works the same way: tell us when you're done and we arrange the pickup and confirm the end of charging.
Tell us what you need and where — we’ll source it from our supplier network and send a sharp quote, usually same day.
No account, no friction — send the basics and we’ll source it.
