Counterbalance 3–5t3–5 tDiesel / LPGHeavier pallets, timber, steel
Electric counterbalance1.8–3 tBatteryIndoors, food, retail — no fumes

Typical class figures — exact model confirmed on your quote. Remember capacity derates as the load centre moves out: a “2.5 tonne” forklift lifts 2.5 t at a 500 mm load centre, less for long or bulky loads. Moving pallets without a licence? See the pallet jacks.

Forklift hire questions

Do I need a licence to drive a forklift?

Yes — a forklift needs the LF high-risk work licence in Australia, no exceptions for private property on a workplace. The one carve-out is pedestrian gear: walk-behind walkie stackers and pallet jacks don't need LF, just training and competency.

What does a ‘2.5 tonne’ forklift actually lift?

2.5 tonnes at a 500 mm load centre — i.e. a compact, dense pallet. Long, wide or awkward loads push the centre of gravity out and the safe capacity down. Tell us the heaviest, longest thing you'll lift and we'll size the machine with margin.

LPG, diesel or electric?

Indoors or anywhere ventilation matters: electric. Mixed indoor/outdoor: LPG. Yard and site work: diesel. If you're unloading containers in a warehouse all week, electric or LPG saves you working in fumes.

Can I unload a shipping container with it?

Yes — with the right setup. A standard counterbalance needs a container ramp to get inside, or you work from the doors. Tell us whether the container is on the ground or on a trailer and we'll quote the ramp alongside.

Will it work on gravel or a building site?

A warehouse forklift won't enjoy it — that's what all-terrain forklifts with big tyres and 4WD are for. For serious rough ground and reach, ask about telehandlers through the network.

How does delivery work?

Tilt-tray or float from the nearest supplying yard, quoted per job. Same-week delivery is normal; same-day happens when a nearby yard has one free — call before mid-morning.
